William Fox-Pitt Retains His Equi-Trek Title

10th Jun 2013

William Fox-Pitt and Chilli Morning retained their Equi-Trek Bramham Horse Trials title this weekend, jumping a faultless clear in the senior CCI3*. The winner of the Equi-Trek CCI3* is awarded an Equi-Trek Sonic 3500kg horsebox.

Christopher Stone’s stallion was the overnight leader and had a fence in hand to win, but didn’t need it.

“Yesterday he was fairly feisty, so I was aware he could take the fences on too much, but I was pleased he was rideable,” said William.

William has now won one of Eventings biggest prizes, the Equi-Trek Sonic Horsebox, for the second year running.

William Said 'The Sonic is so useful and economical, I don't know how I managed without it'

The Sonic can be driven by anyone with a standard car license, making it a perfect addition to any yard. It holds full European Type Approval and is built on a brand new Peugeot chassis, rather than a van conversion, giving the ultimate in safety and peace of mind.

Equi-Trek are the UK's largest horsebox manufacturer, and have just introduced a 2 year warranty across the range, making them the first UK manufacturer to offer more than 1 year warranty.

Equi-Trek sponsored Olympic rider Nicola Wilson had just the final part of the treble down to take fifth on Annie Clover, while she also finished eighth on Beltane Queen.

Well done William!

A FANTASTIC WEEKEND FOR NICOLA AT THE EQUI-TREK BRAMHAM INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS

10th Jun 2013

Nicola has been in fantastic form at the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials, finishing in the top ten on both of her young mares.  Annie Clover finished in 5th place and won the award for best mare and Beltane Queen finished in 8th place, a huge achievement for both of them, as they are only 9 years of age and were contesting their first CCI*** competition.

Nicola comments, “I could not have been more proud of the ‘girls’ – they have performed beautifully in all three phases and were both so brave over a very tough cross-country course, that I believe was a bit more testing than the course at this year’s Badminton. To have two young horses that are not only capable of performing at that level, but also to be in the top ten is exciting for the future and they are great deputy’s to Opposition Buzz”.

Annie Clover, who is owned by Nicola’s mother Mary and Beltane Queen, who is owned by Mrs Val and Mrs Ann Robson, will have a short break, before building up to an autumn three-day event.

Meanwhile, there is no break for Nicola, who this evening starts her journey to Germany for the Lühmuhlen CCI**** with Opposition Buzz.  “ Buzz was in such fine form at Badminton this year and

for the past few years, as I have been saving him for team selection later in the year, he hasn’t run in many three day events, therefore, as he is not getting younger, his owner Rosemary Search and myself thought we should enjoy him while he is still capable of competing at such a high level and he enjoys himself so much on the cross-country phase” says Nicola.

Nicola would like to take this opportunity thank all her sponsors for their continued support and looks forward to the rest of the season.

Nicola Wilson Starts Season in Style

12th Mar 2013

Equi-Trek sponsored rider Nicola had a good start to the season at Oasby, with all the horses going really well for their first outings of the season.

The two mares Beltane Queen and Annie Clover put up two good performances, with Beltane Queen winning her Intermediate section and Annie Clover coming 3rd in her OI section.

Opposition Buzz was clearly delighted to be out competing again and although on his toes in the dressage he jumped a lovely double clear to finish 3rd in his OI section.

Nicola’s new ride, Watermill Vision won the ON section, which was a nice confident start to a new partnership, and not to be outdone, was her young horse Hero Motivator, who was 2nd in his BE100 section.

The weather on Thursday was glorious sunshine and the ground conditions superb, on Friday there was thick fog to contend with and on Saturday it did not stop raining all day.

Nicola is very appreciative to the organizers who did a fantastic job, not only with the ground conditions but also with the flowing cross-country course, which was perfect for a first outing of the season.

Lincoln is the next outing and let’s hope the weather has warmed up!!

http://www.facebook.com/equitrek

The winner of Badminton and Burghley in 2009 Oliver’s success has always been based on hard graft and a love for the horses he works with.

Oliver inherited his love of horses from his parents. His dad, Alan, competed in three-day eventing, while mum, Eve showed side saddle at county level. Oliver began riding when he was 7 years old. His first success came when he was 11, with his pony Cool Mule at the Horse of the Year Show, and at 13 he went on to represent Britain on the pony eventing team at the European Championships. Oliver quickly moved through the ranks and for three years was stable jockey to British Team Trainer, Kenneth Clawson in Leicestershire.

When Oliver eventually set up on his own at Lubenham Lodge, Leicestershire, he had just a few pounds in his pocket but an unquenchable thirst for winning. Less than two years later he was able to be able to buy his own farm in Dudleston Heath near Ellesmere, Shropshire where he is now based.

The Hon William Russell’s Topping provided Oliver’s first crack at Badminton and he made the most of it by finishing in 12th place. This earned them an individual place at the European Championships, Blenheim in 2005. Flint Curtis took over as Oliver’s top horse in 2006 after placing third at Badminton, his first four star event. Oliver remained on the British Squad, riding Flint as an individual at the Aachen WEG the same year, before earning his first team place – and a European Championship gold medal – at Pratoni in 2007.

Then came his glorious year in 2009. Oliver and Flint Curtis won their first CCI**** at Badminton. Oliver also went on to win Burghley CCI**** on his other top grey horse, Carousel Quest, owned by Andrew Cawthray. In so doing, Oliver joined an elite group of riders who have won back to back Badminton and Burghley titles. He duly finished the season at the top of the British Eventing points table for the first time, having previously been top British rider.

Team Townend now includes a staff of eight – with mum and dad playing their part – stables for 45 horses and all the facilities needed to buy and sell the best and compete for the world’s top honours.

Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware

5th Feb 2013

Caveat Emptor

Over recent months, an increasing number of fraudulent adverts have been posted through various horsebox and trailer sites. These adverts use real photographs and product information to advertise Equi-Trek Trailers and Horseboxes at unbeatable and sometimes unbelievable prices.

These internet crooks seem and are too good to be true. They even go as far as stealing the Ebay Identification of trusted sellers in order to convince unsuspecting buyers that their product is legitimate and trustworthy, which is unfortunately not the case.

In many cases, the photographs and information is stolen from genuine adverts from honest vendors is put together to create an ultimately convincing advert, which may only be proven to be fraudulent when the potential buyer has already transferred a considerable amount of money.

Equi-Trek advises that the following steps are taken when considering purchasing a second hand Equi-Trek Trailer or Horsebox.

  • Where possible, try and purchase from an approved Equi-Trek dealership. A list of approved dealers can be found on our website.
  • Ideally, you should only consider buying a vehicle or trailer you have physically seen with your own eyes; digital proof such as photographs or videos could be from anywhere.
  • If the trailer is some distance away, arrange to meet with the vendor or trailer before paying a penny, or contact a friend in the area to go and investigate for you before parting with any cash.
  • Fraudulent sellers tend to demand bank transfer or cheque and are difficult to contact; try and stick to protected payment methods where you know the location of your money such as bankers draft or cash as this will put any potential fraudsters in an impossible situation.
  • If in any doubt, do not transfer any money or deposit to anyone and report it to the site on which it is listed.
  • Ask for the vehicle VIN/Trailer Chassis Number and copies of any supporting documents including service history to prove ownership before transferring any money through to the vendor.
  • If you suspect an Equi-Trek product being sold fraudulently, please do not hesitate to contact us on info@equi-trek.com or 01484 852121
  • If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Once questioned, these sellers and adverts tend to vanish and reappear in locations all-over the country. Please remain vigilant and alert us to anything relating to our products that you think may be out of the ordinary.

Equi-Trek sells through a large network of approved dealerships and franchisees throughout the country. A full list of these is available here http://www.equi-trek.com/uk/dealers/ These dealerships often have new and preowned stock available, and can also offer servicing and warranty work for buyer piece of mind.

Don’t get caught out by internet fraud. Buy Safe.

Damaged Horse Transporter

Equi-Trek Sonic Saves Lives of Family Including Unborn Child and Pony

26th Jan 2013

In September 2008, Ms Bryce purchased an Equi-Trek Sonic. It was well maintained and serviced regularly.

In July 2011, Ms Bryce was slowing for some temporary traffic lights when she was hit by a driver coming from the opposite direction who accidentally accelerated instead of braking and hit the Equi-Trek head on at approximately 65mph.

The Sonic was pushed backwards up a high kerb and into a brick wall. The Sonic was a complete write off through the front of the vehicle being destroyed.

The lorry was being driven by Ms Bryce’s 25 year old daughter who was five months pregnant at the time, her 8 month old son and Ms Bryce were passengers, their 14.2 Connemara was also on board.

 Ms Bryce said

“Despite the considerable damage to the exterior of the vehicle, they were expecting the worst, however, due to the Peugeot and Equi-Trek safety features, which are a standard inclusion on all of our Small Horsebox models, all passengers managed to walk away with only minor injuries. The pony was also unharmed other than a graze under his chin. The pony walked off the lorry with no problems. My daughter also gave birth to a healthy baby girl. We cannot praise Equi-Trek enough”

Equi-Trek Horseboxes and trailers are built with safety as standard. Without the extra reinforcements throught the floor and bulkhead which are standard on all Equi-Trek horseboxes, the pony may well have ended up in the cab. The fact that the pony was travelling facing the rear of the sonic meant that the impact was absorbed by his rear rather than his head and neck, doubtlessly saving him from severe injury or worse.
